Schedule for Next Week

All puzzles from last week’s Pentomino set can be found in this PDF.

This next week will feature challenges from puzzlemaster Prasanna Seshadri, specifically a set of competition-level puzzles. Some are from recent national championships but many that are original to our site. As competition puzzles, they all sit around Wednesday-Thursday difficulty and contain some interesting but unusual logic in spots. The specific styles will be region division/shading puzzles: Tapa, Cave, and Kurotto. Enjoy!

The bonus puzzle for our high-level supporters will be a Tapa by Prasanna Seshadri.

Grant’s New Year’s Resolution was to submit 365 puzzles this year and he is still pretty much on pace. This is a huge quantity of puzzles to test, so his submissions pile up most weeks. When I do get to them, I often wonder how I am ever going to use most of these puzzles.

This week is a collection just from Grant’s early August submissions (spanning a roughly 10 day period). Unusual sizes and themes, but 100% Foxger. I hope you enjoy them.

Monday: Slitherlink
Tuesday: Masyu
Wednesday: Battleships
Thursday: Pentominous

While I’ve been featuring a lot more puzzle types this year, I often get requests to go back to having more Sudoku. While my focus for many months has been organizing the 2014 Sudoku Grand Prix, now that that work is mainly done it seemed a good time to revisit the style here. So the deficit of that style won’t continue for much longer; we’ll have some classic puzzles, but not on consecutive days as that might be too many classics in a row. Even odd folks like us can appreciate a good puzzle where nothing is repeated, neighbors.

The bonus puzzle for our high-level supporters will be a Skyscrapers by Prasanna Seshadri.
