Tapa-Like Loop by David Altizio
or solve online (using our beta test of Penpa-Edit tools in linex mode where left click+drag draws lines and right click marks X’s on edges)
Theme: Double Trouble
Author/Opus: This is the 4th puzzle from guest contributor David Altizio.
Rules: Form a single non-intersecting loop. Clues inside the grid represent the number of neighboring cells visited by the loop; if there is more than one number in a cell, each number should be represented with a separate loop segment. There is no 2×2 rule of Tapa in this puzzle.

As a note for Penpa-Edit config, the way I usually solve Tapa-Like Loops is by shading squares that are included/excluded and drawing the loop. Is there a way to set it up so e.g. right-click cycles through white/green/black and left-click draws the loop?
Hi Asher — I’m not aware of a single composite mode at the moment that allows the edge X that also allows for multi-color cell shading. Note that you can click into the tab menu and turn on Surface so you can alternate with tab to be able to shade. Or can also turn off the Penpa-Lite choice and have all the other options for notations come back.
Asher: You could try using the setting for Yajilin (in the “Sub:” area, go to Loop -> Yajilin). I just tested and the solution checking still works.
Good suggestion. It won’t trigger a green shading which might be easier than gray, but the single dots can also be used like this and the loop notation for checking is any green line so all the loop modes are possible. I still expect there is a cleaner version than the Yajilin interface but will think more about what that can be.
Nice Puzzle and nice theme. I could solve it in 1.47 mins.
