Took a while for me, but the a-ha was fabulous!
I tried to solve this for 3 hours straight and never could get it.

What do the arrows on the left mean? The ABCD ones. I don’t think they were addressed in rules and I’ve only saw them here.
Our puzzles before 2020 had an Answer String entry system so you could confirm your solution, and the ABCD arrows are part of that Answer String by indicating specific rows. They do not have any effect on the Castle Wall puzzle itself, and you can ignore them when solving.
