My usual complaint with many odd/even Sudokus is that you can often quickly mark all the odd/even squares without much thought, and then you’re basically solving two separate puzzles that are individually less interesting than a full Sudoku. This one never felt like that, and was logically interesting and subtle all the way through. Very nice.
Huh, in contrast to Jack’s comment I started by marking all the odd/even squares and then solving two separate puzzles. I thought the start of each of the two separate puzzles was quite nice, though!
