It never ceases to amaze me when the clue that looks least useful on the face of it (e.g. there’s at least two blocks of 1 in this column but they could be anywhere and may or may not be together) turns out to be crucial to the solve…

Unlike Neelix, I find that I don’t need the third column’s clues, finding it deducible from the others.
By the way, why do you have to choose it being tall instead of wide… My screen can’t keep the entire grid visible. Of course, making it wide makes people say “my page needs to scale it down”, so hard to find a compromise. Go diagonally perhaps?
If you didn’t use C3’s clue, then you missed out on the entire draw of the puzzle.
