Nice puzzle with 2’s; I learned something today about observers seeing 2’s on the same row.

  • James says:

Nice puzzle! But isn’t possible to rows A and B without using a few of the clues?

Not sure what the exact comment is here (that A and B are “early” or that clues can be eliminated). Only the clue at the bottom of column 2 can be removed to still have one solution. With some of the multi-solution puzzles, A and B don’t change. Maybe that is your concern?

      • James says:

Whoops, sorry for the typo. I meant A and B are early. The right 2 and two bottom 2s can be removed and still solve for A and B, I believe.

I expressed the exact same concern in the test-solving spreadsheet, suggesting C4 and C5 for answer entry. I see that I should have been more intrusive and sent an e-mail instead!

I now see exactly what you mean! Despite the small size of this puzzle, it seems even as the author there were still fascinating aspects of this grid that remained hidden from me. There are numerous non-trivial solving paths to this puzzle 🙂

Isn’t the puzzle still solvable without the second 2 on the bottom row?
