6-ish minutes.
I almost made a meta-deduction based on the almost symmetric pattern of givens, but it might be a clever trap that Palmer set on purpose 😉
Multiple times my deductions were based on what pentominoes weren’t given in the pentomino pool. Fun.
I don’t think I used that deduction much. Rather, I started by using connectivity constraints on the borders, which limited a lot of possibilities.
To Thomas: It used to be that the name and e-mail address are stored for the reply form over multiple sessions. This seems to be no longer the case.
I’ll look into this when I can and reply to this comment. Perhaps after the hosting move and changes in site caching commenter-cookies are not behaving 100% properly.
ETA: It looks like this was a direct result of us adding page caching to the site to try to improve performance (before we also switched web hosts which definitely had a much larger effect). I’ve adjusted the comment cookie lifetime up from about 30 minutes back to what it was. The trade off is any benefit the caching might have had for you will no longer apply as a recognized user.
